The Administrative and Service Environment standards reflect the significant impact that accessibility, health, and safety have on an organization’s productivity. These standards address explicitly how accessibility, emergency response preparedness, disease prevention, health, and physical safety apply to both the service and administrative environment. This section highlights the importance of providing a safe and healthy environment for people to work and receive services. The Administrative and Service Environment section includes a significant number of Fundamental Practice Standards. 

Interpretation: Facilities reflect the organization’s commitment to provide comfort and dignity to individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages.

    • Describe the overall environment in which your organization operates and any environment-related security or emergency preparedness issues that may impact your organization (e.g., Our organization opened a new shelter three years ago in a more centralized location that was more accessible to the majority of our service population. However, the neighborhood has been identified as a high crime area with an increase in vandalism and break-ins over the past ten years. Since starting operations in the new location, our organization has taken the following precautions to insure the safety of our personnel and service recipients…).
    • Cite 2-3 examples of activities or decisions that your organization has undertaken that contributed to the health and safety of persons served, personnel, and visitors (eg, Over the past 12 months our organization has designed and implemented an extensive training program to insure that all current and incoming staff receive comprehensive training on how to respond to medical threats and emergencies As part of this program, we have scheduled training sessions on …).
    • Provide any additional information that would increase the Peer Team's understanding of how your organization creates a safe and respectful environment that contributes to organizational productivity and effective service delivery.
    • A list of licenses applicable to your programs and services including the oversight bodies that issue and monitor them
