COA Standards for Private Organizations

Catholic Charities in Covington has been COA accredited since 1996. Though the time spent in completing the self study and hosting the site visit can sometimes feel sometimes daunting, the rewards far outweigh the effort. In our agency, the self-study is a group process that involves every member of the staff from the CEO to the building maintenance staff. The generic and service standards provide an instructional tool to allow all of us access to procedures and practices that have passed muster with human service providers and scholars across the country. This process gives us access to resources that an agency of our small size could gather on our own and assures not only our management, but our board, our donors and our clients that we are providing the best services that our field has to offer. Every good outcome has its price, and we here at Catholic Charities believe that the resources expended to become accredited and to maintain that accreditation are very much worth that cost. We proudly display our COA accreditation credentials in the foyer of our facility to assure those who enter our practice area can be confident that they are getting the best. They are worth it!
