The purpose of the Initial Assessment is to familiarize the adoption service provider to the accreditation, approval, or renewal process, to gather information needed to plan the site visit, to establish which standards will be included in the evaluation and to establish the timeline.
Prior to the intake call the adoption service provider will provide information to COA through the Organizational Profile and the Program Assignment Forms. The Accreditation Coordinator will review that information and schedule an intake call with the ASP. During the intake call the Coordinator will review the accreditation, approval, or renewal process with the ASP, and gather some information that will assist in the planning of a site visit. The Intake Coordinator will also ask a series of questions about the adoption service provider’s implementation of practices addressed within the Hague Accreditation and Approval Standards. The information shared by the ASP during the intake call will not be used to rate an ASP’s compliance with the standards, but to help the ASP identify areas to be addressed in their work plan.
The ASP and the Coordinator will discuss a timeline for the ASP’s accreditation, approval, or renewal timeline which takes into account available site visit dates, the ASP’s expiration date (if the ASP is seeking renewal) and the provider’s readiness. Upon conclusion of the call, the Coordinator will draft a timeline that will specify the exact dates for the provider to complete each step in the accreditation, approval, or renewal process.
