Updated Youth Independent Living (YIL) Standards Released

New Core Standard for youth independent living program models integrated with residential services accommodates youth in transition.

For Private, Public, and Canadian Organizations

A new Core Standard, YIL 7 - Supportive Housing for Youth in Transition, has been added to accommodate youth independent living program models integrated with residential services.  Additionally, guidance regarding mental health screenings (Mental Health First Aid at YIL 3.02) and working with LGBT youth (YIL 7.01 & YIL 10.03) has been incorporated into the section. All updates are based on best practices and movement in the field. (YIL, PA-YIL, CA-YIL).

Germaine Lawrence is a residential treatment center for girls ages 12-18 with complex behavioral, psychological and learning challenges.   Girls live at our programs while receiving special education, individual, family and group therapy; psychiatric and primary medical care; and a wide variety of therapeutic activities and interventions.
